About TOEFL Exam?
TOEFL is Test Of English as a Foreign Language. It is the test conducted for admission of non-native English speakers in other English speaking colleges & universities. TOEFL is conducted under the supervision of Educational Testing Service ETS. Its score is valid for two years. It was introduced in the year 1964. Since then, every year this is conducted.
TOEFL Test pattern :The candidate can take this either as Internet-Based Test (iBT) or Paper Based Test (PBT).
- iBT – This is of 4 hours & divided into 4 sections.
a. Reading – In this there are –5 passages where each passage contains 12 – 14 questions.
The approximate time allotted is 60 – 100 minutes.
b. Listening – In this, 60 – 90 minutes are given to attempt 6-9 passages which contains 5-6 questions each.
The, there is break for 10 minutes.
c. Speaking – Ever candidate is given 6 tasks containing 6 6 questions to be solved in 20 minutes.
d. Writing – You have to attempt 2 tasks containing 2 questions in 55 minutes. - PBT – This is of 3 hours. The 4 sections are -
a. Listening – 30- 40 minutes. It is divided into parts depending on the type of conversation.
b. Structure & Written Expression : It is of 25 minutes where you have to attempt questions related to completing sentences & error detection.
c. Reading Comprehension : It is of 55 minutes.
d. Writing : In this you have to write an essay in 30 minutes.
